How to Download and Install VAIO Media Player For Sony Laptop

Using the VAIO Care utility

Click the Start button, click All Programs, click the VAIO Care folder, and then click VAIO Care.

If prompted for an administrator password or a User Account Control prompt is displayed, type the appropriate password, click Continue or click Yes.

In the VAIO Care window, click the Recovery & Restore icon, and then click Install Applications and Drivers.

In the Select Programs or Drivers to reinstall section, on the Programs tab, click to place a check in the box next to both Media Gallery and Media Gallery Extension, and then click the Next button.

Click the Start button. The files you have chosen will begin to install after a 10 second delay.

In the Reinstall Complete window, click to place a check in the box next to Restart Now, and then click the Finish button. Your laptop will restart and VAIO Media Player will be ready to use.

Note: Some Sony laptops may not have VAIO Media Player preinstalled on the original hard drive image. If this is the case, you can download and install it from the Sony website.

Using the Sony website

If you do not have VAIO Media Player preinstalled on your laptop or if you prefer to download it from the Sony website, follow these steps:

Go to https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/downloads/W0004536.

Click the Download button next to VAIO Media plus Software Update.

Save the file VMpExt1_3_1_02160.exe to a temporary or download directory on your laptop.

Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click VMpExt1_3_1_02160.exe.

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Restart your laptop when prompted. VAIO Media Player will be ready to use.

Using VAIO Media Player

To use VAIO Media Player, follow these steps:

Launch VAIO Media Player from the Start menu or from the desktop shortcut.

Select the type of media content you want to view (music, photos or videos).

Select the source device where the content is stored (your laptop or another device in your home network).

Select the content you want to view and click Play.

If you want to view the content on another device (such as a TV or an audio device), select the destination device from the list and click Send.
